NYFW Experience: Pamella Roland S/S2018

By: Kristen Glover

For Pamela Spring 2018 her focus was citing her timeless allure to recent getting inspiration from Grace Kelly as well as a recent trip to the Grand Prix for creating this collection. When listening to her backstage she described being in Morocco and how “Everything is just beautiful there,” said Roland backstage. “The cars, the buildings, the people my customer wants beautiful, over-the-top gowns, and that’s the place where you’re going to see them.” Roland was in her element, delivering one frothy tulle gown after another.

While watching the show was richly detailed dresses like a blush embroidered lace gown with ostrich features adoring its hems was audibly enthusiastic, but restraint can be as effective as embellishment. This collection’s beautiful standout moments occurred when the focus was a singular design element ombre sequins taking center stage on a formfitting sheath; metallic fringe accenting lacy embroidery, gold threadwork adding princess appeal to a cocktail dress. I’m excited to see Rolland’s creations on the red carpet with each look having a glamour moment.
